SCHOOL BASED FOOD CENTER

Addison CSD Community -

The District once again would like to express our most sincere gratitude to ProAction and the Food Bank of the Southern Tier for their partnership in addressing food insecurity in our community through the Food Center at the Jennie Mose Family Resource Center (JMFRC).  Our combined efforts have helped provide food for hundreds of our families, students and community members.  While the need for this support is constant, it was even more essential during the shutdown of the Federal Government which resulted in the interruption of SNAP benefits to many of our neighbors during the early part of this month and, again, we are pleased that the Food Center was available to offset this situation for so many in our community.

While our three organizations are thrilled that so many have been helped by the Food Center at the JMFRC, it is critical that our efforts remain aligned with the purpose of a school food center and work in alignment with other food resources in our community in order to best ensure that as many are helped as possible.  To this end, our partnership has determined that the hours of the Food Center at the JMFRC will be restructured beginning Monday, December 1st, 2025, in order to prioritize access to the Food Center for ACSD students and families, as serving these populations is the primary purpose of a school food center; however, the Food Center at the JMFRC will still be open to all district residents, but on a more limited basis as shown in the updated list of hours below.  Additionally, community members who are not students or caregivers of students are encouraged to take advantage of the Addison Food Pantry, Woodhultl Food Pantry, Woodhull Mobile Food Pantry and Rathbone Mobile Food Pantry when they are available.  The District, along with ProAction and The Food Bank of the Southern Tier, will continue to monitor he use of the Food Center at the JMFRC and adjust availability as we are able.  The understanding of and cooperation with this adjustment is greatly appreciated by all three of our organizations.

Finally, any immediate caregivers of students who are unable to access the food center are encouraged to contact Mrs. Butler (bbutler@addisoncsd.org ) or Ms. Ross (alross@addisoncsd.org) to discuss how the family can be assisted in accessing resources from the food center.
